Restaurants in Toronto :

  • Bite Me!

Following a brief summer break, Chef Marc Thuet and his wife and business partner Biana Zorich re-open their popular King Street West eatery with a new name and a new menu this September tempting patron’s into Bite Me!. It’s a provocative invitation to experience the gastronomy that Thuet is renowned for.

  • Gilead Cafe

Located in the King St. East district, Jamie Kennedy presents the best that Ontario has to offer in a casual café atmosphere. The open-concept café features a daily lunch menu, delicate pastries, freshly baked breads, exceptional prepared dishes and an array of brewed and espresso coffees.

  • Grace

Restaurateur and sommelier Lesle Gibson (ex-Xacutti) spent the last three years in L.A. catering to a celeb who’s who. Now she's back on familiar territory -- the same College Street address she left more than three years ago for a warmer climate and a taste of the surreal life. Paired with super-talented young chef Dustin Gallagher (ex-Susur), they’ve created a modern farmhouse menu consisting of traditional Sunday dinner faves, lifting College Street out of its mediocre dining spell.

  • Harbord Room

Queen West barfly émigrés, staff from Splendido and Annex dwellers have found a new home at Harbord Room. Owner David Mitton (ex-Czehoski) and chef Cory Vitiello (ex-Drake Hotel) are packing ’em in night after night, with a hot comfort-food menu and cool pink décor.

  • Mildred’s Temple Kitchen

The new Mildred in Liberty Village is the perfect package. It’s the most beautiful resto I’ve seen all year, with a smart menu to boot -- popular faves like chicken biryani and profiteroles still kicking around -- and the same Mildred Pierce brunch menu west-end foodies came to know and love all those years on Sudbury Street.

  • Nota Bene

Owners Yannick Bigourdan, with Splendido exec chef David Lee and veteran restaurateur Franco Prevedello, opened perhaps the year’s best resto at Queen and University -- where white collars mesh harmoniously with urban hipsters. Designed by local architect firm KPMB (Gardiner Museum, Bell Lightbox), the space is a media darling, garnering great reviews.

  • Nyood

It’s got the hottest décor in town -- not to mention a smoking social scene and a talented chef (Kultura’s Roger Mooking) so you know reservations are a must before heading to this cheekily titled resto in Parkdale. The sexy space (formerly the DeLeon White gallery) is gorgeous and cool, with an impressive Mediterranean menu.

  • Pizzeria Libretto

Libretto aims to be loyal to what real pizza is, invented in Naples using local natural ingredients, cooked in a wood fired oven at extremely high heat to achieve a charred, blistered crust. We use San Marzano tomatoes and Fiore di Latte Mozzarella, brought in fresh daily. Our dough is made from 100% organic stone ground flour, never bleached or bromated, and leavened naturally.

  • Sidecar

Chef and owner William Sweete and partner Casey Bee took a tacky space (the former Versace’s Driveway) and made it a College Street dining-out destination on the strength of both his cocktail and dinner menus. The restaurant makes the best (and strongest) Bad Ass Mojito in town and dinner ain’t bad either -- serving solid fare like steak frites and delicious oven-roasted chicken.
